Boston Baked Bonz is an old idea that finally blossomed to life in the spring of 2007. We thought up the name of the company in the late 1980s, and ruminated time and again about the concept of the business (i.e. what ingredients to use, whether to have a store front, etc.).Then during the 1990s, our world was blessed when we became the proud parents of two of the best dogs that have ever existed: Sebastian and his beautiful sister Daphne. We spent joyous and countless hours cooking meals for them and making cookies for the (more-than-) occasional snack. We decorated their collars and incorporated these two beautiful spirits into the various craft and art projects that came along. Suffice it to say, we just generally integrated these dogs into every facet of our lives. We’re not sure who loved it more — but these dogs were so wonderful, we’re certain we got the better end of the deal.
And along the way, we noticed many other people who look at their canine companions as being truly integrated and honored members of the family, too. We knew that a company dedicated to providing excellent gifts and snacks to dogs could be successful, especially with people who felt as honored to be canine guardians as we did (and still do with our new family members, Violet, Daisy, Sunflower & Charlie).
Then, in the spring of 2007, fed up with being a lawyer and the legal practice in general, John started looking for a fun and useful means of working with the dog community. We decided to get our rolling pins, craft supplies and recipe notes to make this 20-year-old idea a reality. Just as we had hoped, the response has been overwhelming: Boston Baked Bonz are the types of treats people give their dogs to say “thank you for being part of my family”. Or friends give to one another to say, “I understand the love you have for your dog because I feel that love too.” It is a wonderful thing, and we want to share it with the world.
